§ 18-30.2. Monthly supplemental benefit.

  • Only a member of the General Employee Tier One Plan and any General Employee Tier One employee participating in the DROP, who terminates his or her active employment with the city after September 30, 2005, shall upon the commencement of payment of their normal or early retirement benefit, be paid a three hundred dollar ($300.00) per month supplement in addition to the member's monthly retirement benefit. Such benefit shall be payable only during the lifetime of the retiree and shall not extend any benefits to the retiree's surviving beneficiary. No entitlement to payments or accruals of this benefit shall begin until active employment with the city has terminated.

    In the case of a member who retires or terminates their employment from the city as a police officer and is entitled to a similar benefit under section 18-36(5) of this Code, the member shall not be entitled to payment of the supplemental benefit payable under this section.
